When You’ve Been Strong for Too Long

Support for the person who keeps going

When You’ve Been Strong for Too Long

You may be the person everyone counts on. You handle the hard things and rarely have time to consider what they cost. Therapy offers space to understand what you are carrying and reconnect with yourself beyond your responsibilities.

You may recognize some of this

These experiences can follow a long season of pressure. They are not, on their own, proof of trauma.

  • You are irritable at home after holding it together all day.
  • Rest feels difficult, even when you finally have time.
  • You feel responsible for everyone and have little room for another demand.
  • You feel numb, keyed up, or emotionally exhausted.

What support can look like

We can begin with what affects daily life: unwinding, boundaries, sleep, or feeling connected again. When useful, relational and nervous-system-aware work can help you notice patterns and consider a more sustainable way forward. Deeper work is an option, not an obligation.

Why Gentle Pathways

Paulina Dysko is a registered social worker and psychotherapist. Her years in child protection and forensic collaboration inform her understanding of responsibility, demanding work, and what it can take to ask for support. The work is individualized and paced with you.

Your first step

Book through Jane

Choose an available in-person appointment in London or a virtual appointment if you are in Ontario.

Start with what matters now

The first conversation can focus on your present concerns, goals, and questions. You do not need a polished story.

Plan together

Discuss what kind of support might fit and the pace that feels manageable.

Common questions

Does feeling exhausted mean I have trauma?

No. Ongoing stress and emotional exhaustion can have many causes. Therapy can help you explore your experience without assuming a diagnosis.

Will I have to revisit difficult events?

You can discuss pacing and goals together. Deeper processing is considered only when it fits your needs and readiness.

Can I come if I am still functioning well at work?

Yes. Many people seek support while continuing to meet responsibilities; you do not need to wait for a crisis.

Can appointments be virtual?

Virtual appointments are offered for clients across Ontario.

You can set down some of what you carry

If this page sounds familiar, an initial appointment is a place to talk about what has been happening and what you want to change.
