First responders are the backbone of any community. They put their lives on the line every day to protect us and keep our families safe.
At Gentle Pathways, we understand the unique challenges that first responders face, and we are committed to helping them regain their emotional well-being so they can continue to serve and protect our community with the highest level of care.
We offer a range of services, including talk therapy, with CBT, CPT as well as EMDR therapy, all designed to help first responders cope with the stress and trauma of their jobs and their effects on a personal life. With years of experience as a first responder herself, Paulina possesses a deep understanding of the conditions and challengers that first responders face every day both on and off duty.
About EMDR: EMDR is a form of therapy that has been found to be highly effective in treating trauma and PTSD, which are common among first responders. The goal is to reprocess traumatic memories so that they no longer have the same negative emotional impact. For more information about our EMDR services see this link
Why is EMDR particularly well-suited for first responders ?
- Brief and highly targeted, approximately 6-12 sessions,
- Does not require the client to talk in-depth about their trauma,
- Shown to be effective in reducing the intensity of traumatic memories,
- Effective in treating a wide range of traumas, including natural disasters, accidents, and violent crimes, situations that first responders are likely to encounter in their line of work
